Tasha Boerner Horvath is Councilmember-elect, a community leader, a third-generation Encinitan and the mother of two young children.
COUNCILMEMBER: Tasha was elected to the Encinitas City Council on November 8, 2016. Formerly a Planning Commissioner, she built a reputation of implementing reasonable, smart solutions that respect community character of all five of Encinitas' communities. Tasha is passionate about crafting practical solutions that ensure the quality of life for everyone in Encinitas.
BUSINESSWOMAN: Tasha's professional experience has focused on tackling tough problems with strategic vision and pragmatic action for non-profits, small businesses, global Fortune 500 companies, and higher education institutions. She has consulted for a public-private partnership with the World Health Organization to eradicate neglected diseases in over 83 countries, supported capital campaigns to educate sustainable development entrepreneurs across Latin America, collaborated with international technology giants like Apple and Google for Deutsche Telekom and led an international marketing team in the higher education sector. In response to her own daughter's struggle with sensory process disorder, in 2015 she started her own Etsy store designing and sewing sensory-friendly clothing for little girls.
COMMUNITY LEADER: Tasha volunteered on the Paul Ecke Central PTA Board, where not only was she VP of Programs, but she also led the collaborative community group successfully advocating for safer streets, improved traffic flow and better infrastructure for everyone in the neighborhood.
MOTHER: While living in Europe, Tasha met her husband, Istvan, and they had their two children, Máté and Maya Kate.
Tasha is a trained political scientist with an A.B.D. in Political Science and a M.A. in International Studies from the highly ranked Claremont Graduate University Institute of Politics and Policy. Tasha studied at the prestigious Humboldt University of Berlin for part of her graduate work. She received her B.A. in Political Science in 1995 from the University of California, the #1 public university in the world.
