This week I announced I'm running for State Assembly to cut through the bureaucracy and get good things done for our communities. I love my work in Encinitas, and there is so much more we can do together! In Council news, we held our second districting meeting and an update on the Coastal Mobility and Livability Working Group.

Last week the Encinitas City Council held our first public hearing on districting and became the first North San Diego County city to support AB 805, Assemblymember Gonzalez Fletcher's state bill to reform SANDAG 's governance. Last week the Encinitas City Council provided initial direction based on public input to the demographer and city for the districting process, approved two retired Sheriffs to enforce the Deeemed Approved Alcohol ordinance, approved a plan for Beacon's Beach access, and improved mobility by adopting NACTO guidelines.

Last week the Encinitas City Council approved an agreement with NCTD to manage Harbaugh Seaside Parkway, improve the Youth Commission and clean up our municipal code. Stay tuned for next Wednesday when we have a packed agenda including districting and Beacon's Beach.

After the summer recess, the Encinitas City Council asked staff to start public hearings for districting; made progress on mobility projects, such as Santa Fe Drive, B Street and pavement rehabilitation; asked for a better plan for Beacon's Beach access; moved forward on the EV fast-charging station and appointed commissioners.

This week the Encinitas City Council approved the Deemed Approved Ordinance to better enforce noise and nuisance from alcohol-serving establishments; provided feedback and paved the way for the next phase of public outreach and environmental review of our Draft Climate Action Plan; moved forward with a Community Choice Energy (CCE) technical study with other North County cities; approved our Capital Improvement Project and two-year budgets; approved traffic calming in a New Encinitas residential neighborhood and more!
